Although I'm a big ActionScript guy. I use html EVERY SINGLE DAY. I take pride in writing good clean code. There's a craftsmanship there that I really respect and I rather enjoy. Passing it off to the "new guy" or letting dreamweaver handle it makes me ill. Too many people say they know HTML and CSS but only practice it on a cursory level. In the same way people who cut out bad photographs say they know Photoshop; or even worse, claim they are a designer. I totally agree with you on the “below them” comment.
